GASTONIA MAN ARRESTED ON MURDER CHARGES

GASTONIA -- A Gastonia man is charged with murdering his friend, after the friend's body was discovered behind a rental house.

Police arrested Fred Harrison Saturday and charged him with first degree murder and armed robbery.

The victim's landlord came to the residence in the 600 block of Clyde Street to collect rent. The landlord discovered the body behind the house. Police believe the victim died sometime Wednesday after suffering several gunshot wounds and blunt force trauma to the head.

The victim's name isn't being released pending notification of family but WSOC-TV reported the victim is a white male in his 40s. The case remains under investigation.
