POLICE INVESTIGATING FRAUDULENT CHECKS

LINCOLNTON -- A Food Lion employee in Boger City tells police he felt like something wasn’t right after cashing a pair of checks that were supposedly drawn on an eastern Lincoln County business account.

And after contacting the business, the employee’s fears proved to be true. Now, police are looking into two fraudulent checks totaling more than $560.

Around 9am Tuesday, officer Tony Potts responded to the Stamford Drive store to take a report.

“The employee was told by the business the account number on the checks wasn’t theirs,” said Potts.

The investigation into the incident continues.
