ALEXIS - Frances Rachel Knowles, 80, died June 27, 2009, at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas.

She was born in Gaston County, the daughter of the late Carl Alexander and Mary Elizabeth Smith Knowles.

She was a retired employee of Pharr Yarns in McAdenville.

She is survived by two brothers, Bill Knowles and wife Annette of Stanley, Andrew Knowles and wife Mildred of Lowell; three sisters, Martha Watts and husband L.B. of Belmont, Patricia "Toni" Earle of Lowell, Catherine Walters of Alexis; nieces and nephews, Judy Hester and husband Wes of Stanley, Cathy Crosby and husband Butch of Lincolnton, Joey Walters of York, S.C., Michael Watts, David Watts, Debbie Earle, Trish Earle, Stephen Knowles, Mark Knowles, Nancy Sitton, Sue Knowles.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday at Carothers Funeral Home, Stanley.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Carothers Funeral Home Chapel, Stanley with the Rev. Junior Morris and the Rev. Mack Pressley officiating.
Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Serenity of Evergreen Cemetery, Belmont.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Elbert Knowles; one sister, Marie Sitton.
