By Jon Mayhew

LINCOLNTON -- Authorities make an arrest of an Iron Station man and discover he's wanted by Lincolnton Police on robbery charges in a nearly five month old case.

Around 11am Saturday, Gary Lee Forney, 33, Iron Station, was charged with common law robbery and first degree burglary in the Aug. 26 robbery of 49-year-old Jose Rentma, 904 East Lincoln Street, Lincolnton.

According to Lincolnton Police detective Dennis Harris, Forney entered Rentma's apartment without permission and punched Rentma in the face. Rentma wasn't seriously injured.

Rentma then said Forney robbed him of $25.

Forney was served warrants on the city charges at the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center at John Howell Memorial Drive after being taken into custody by deputies for failing to appear in court. Bond for Forney was set at $50,000 secured.

His first appearance was set for Monday in Lincolnton District Court.
