Man Arrested After Breaking
Into Vending Machine

A Bessemer City man is arrested and charged in Lincolnton after police observe the suspect leaving the scene of a store.

Officer Mark Sain responded to Rhodes Brothers at 1122 South Aspen Street Friday just after 5am. A caller told dispatchers with the Lincoln County Communications Center there was someone beating on the back of the building.

As officers approached Eric William Wright, 42, he took off iin a white vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle a short distance away from the store and found burglary tools and piece of wood in the vehicle.

Wright was taken to the Lincoln County Magistrate's Office, where he was charged with felony possession of burglary tools; misdemeanor breaking into a coin operated machine and misdemeanor damaging a coin operated machine.

Magistrate P. Beal gave Wright a $17,000 secured bond, where he was then taken to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center.

Damages to the coin operated drink machine were estimated at around $1,000.
