LINCOLNTON
-- Lincolnton Police are investigating a
case of forgery and
uttering involving a former car
dealership employee.
Officer Billy Burgin responded to
Milholland Automotive, 2111 E. Main
Street, around 9:40am Tuesday.
The owner of the business told police a
former employee may have stolen
checks from the business and cashed them
at two Lincolnton-area banks.
The total value of the checks is around
$1,400.
The former employee was given a week's
notice prior to his last day of
employment, which was Dec. 20, 2008.
The investigation continues into the
case.
It's the second case of employee-related
embezzlement Lincolnton
detectives have had to deal with within
the last week.
The investigation is continuing into a
now former-employee of the Comfort
Inn Hotel on East Main Street, who
reportedly let illegally documented
workers work, "padding" their
time sheets.
Investigators
in that case believe the suspect may have
bilked the employer out of $200,000.
No
arrest has been made in either case.
