LINCOLNTON -- An
18-year-old Gastonia man is arrested
after a
Friday night purse snatching and early
Saturday morning chase
in Lincolnton.
Rasheen Elmore turned himself into
authorities after detectives
with Lincolnton Police learned he was
staying at a residence
near Cherryville.
Elmore was arrested around 7:15 p.m.
Wednesday.
Police said Friday night after 10 p.m.,
Elmore attacked a woman
by jerking her pocket book off her arm.
Then, later in the
evening, Elmore and Jeremy Richard called
the victim's family,
telling the family the pair would burn
the victim's house down
unless they got $1,000.
Lincolnton Police arranged a drop at Food
Lion; however, the
two suspects pulled into Raceway and fled
from authorities
around 3:15 a.m. Saturday. The chase went
four miles on
Highway 321 North from the East Main
Street exit to the
Business Highway 321 exit.
Richard's vehicle ran off the road and
came to a stop; Elmore
fled on foot behind the North 321 Fire
Department building.
