Early voting underway in Lincoln

By Jon Mayhew
Early voting is underway in Lincoln County.

Voters can participate in one-stop early voting in three locations across the county.

Voters can go to the Lincoln County Board of Elections Office in the James W. Warren Citizens Center 8am-5pm Monday through Friday and 10am-7pm Saturday.

In East Lincoln, voters can go to the East Lincoln Recreation Center on Optimist Club Road 10am-7pm Monday through Saturday through October 29.

Voters can also go to the North Brook Community Center in Vale 10am-7pm Monday through Saturday also through October 29.

Saturday October 30, voters can go to the Board of Elections Office and vote 8am-1pm.

With the controversies involving the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office over the last couple of years and the recent Superintendent controversy involving the Lincoln County Board of Education, it's expected voters will flock to the poles for early voting and the general election, which is November 2.

Local races include Republican David Carpenter and Democrat Terry Burgin for Sheriff;

Incumbent Jim Klein [R] is being challenged by Carl Robinson Jr. [R], Loy Dellinger [D] and Bob Richardson [D] for two seats on the Lincoln County Commission.

For the Catawba Township school board seat, Karen Bolick is challenging Bob Silver. For Howard's Creek Township school board seat, incumbent Joan Avery is being challenged by Clayton Mullis.

Candy Burgin is running unopposed for the seat currently held by Rusty Beam, who chose not to run for re-election.

Voters will also be choosing the next Register of Deeds, as incumbent Elaine Harmon is challenged by Danny Hester.

Polls will be open 6:30am-7:30pm on November 2 for the general election.
