A
16-year-old who was supposed to be
released from the Harven A. Crouse
Detention Center on drug and assault
charges now faces more charges prior to
his release.
Police charged Alamar Edwards of 1003
Plymouth Street with
possession with intent to sell and
deliver marijuana. Bond on the
new charges was set at $25,000 secured.
The incident happened last July 25 at the
intersection of Maiden
Highway and Clarks Creek Road after a
traffic stop. The vehicles
came to a stop in the parking lot of
Drums Wrecker Service.
Investigators seized a gym bag, scales
and an undisclosed
amount of cash. They also arrested
Edwards and at least two
other people.
On the day of Edwards arrest,
detectives were looking for a
burglary and robbery suspect. Officers
spotted a black Cadillac,
where Edwards was a passenger.
According to an incident report,
authorities noticed Edwards was
sitting near a substance that was later
determined to be
marijuana. Investigators also noticed a
strong odor of marijuana
coming from the vehicle.
Investigators also found baggies of
marijuana inside the gym
bag.
Edwards, who waived his right to remain
silent, told investigators
at the scene one of the passengers in the
vehicle threw the gym
bag in the front seat, telling Edwards to
throw the bag out the
window at the time of the traffic stop.
Edwards'
bonds on larceny and drug possession now
total $100,000.
