MAIDEN - Donald Franklin Hunt, 84, passed away June 19, 2009, at Carolinas Medical Center, Lincolnton.

A native of Gaston County, he was a son of the late Rube "Ken" Hunt and Claudia Wilkie Hunt.

Services for Don will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the Bumgardner Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors, 515 N. Central Ave., Belmont with Pastor John Stanley officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the Gaston County Last Man Club and U.S. Army Ritual Team of Fort Bragg.

Don proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed studying history and watching birds and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

He will be greatly missed by his children; son, Darrell Hunt and his wife, Laura of Mt. Holly; son, Gary Hunt of Gastonia; daughter, Donna Lynn and her husband, Jack of Crouse, Sharon Tatlock and husband, Bob of Gastonia; brothers, Boyce Hunt of Gastonia, Jerry Hunt and wife, Linda of Mt. Holly, Gene Hunt of Mt. Holly, Bobby Hunt of Stanley, sister, Libby Carrigan and husband, Wayne of Gatlinburg, eight grandchildren and seven great grand-children.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Betty Cloninger Hunt; son, Scott Hunt and brother, Ted Hunt.
