Vale - Donald Edison Parker, 65, of 8179 W NC 10 Hwy, Vale, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.

Mr. Parker was born January 3, 1944 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Cecil Edison Parker and Marie Detter Parker. He was retired as an automotive instructor with Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory. Mr. Parker was a lifelong member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and a member of the Lions Club. He was in the US Army during Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Kay Parker, daughter, Karen Sharpe & husband, Greg of Wilkesboro and a sister, Vivian Sue Parker of Hickory.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, July 31, 2009 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Vale. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Don Willis and Rev. Russell Payne officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
