LINCOLNTON
-- Three people were jailed
early Sunday morning after causing a
disturbance on Davis Street and leaving
the scene. One of the suspects even fired
a shot at the scene of the disturbance.
While on
the way to the scene, Sgt. Jeremy Wilson
passed a white 1994 Honda driven by
29-year-old Carol Johnson on Huss Street.
The vehicle was traveling towards East
Main Street at a high rate of speed.
Sgt.
Wison and Officer Richard Taylor -- with
assistance from deputies with the Lincoln
County Sheriff's Department -- stopped
the vehicle in the parking lot of Harris
Teeter on East Main Street.
Besides
Johnson, arrested were Megan Gail Ramey
and Bridget Roberts, both of Bessemer
City.
All
three suspects were charged with forcible
trespass and simple assault. Johnson was
also charged with carrying a concealed
weapon.
Sgt.
Wilson's arrest report indicated he found
a .380 Smith & Wesson pistol between
the console and front seat passenger side
of Johnson's vehicle.
Johnson
was taken to jail under a $7,500 secured
bond; Ramey's bond was set at $5,000,
while Roberts' bond was $3,000. All have
court dates set for Feb. 18, 2009.
A fourth
suspect -- a 15-year-old juvenile -- was
released to a foster care parent. Her
mother was Bridget Roberts. A fifth
suspect -- Wayne Jackson Day -- wasn't
arrested until later in Gaston County on
separate charges.
While
Wilson and Taylor took care of
apprehending the suspects, officer Mark
Sain and Lt. Kenny Shrum worked the crime
scene over on Davis Street.
Rhonda
Huffman told officers the five suspects
came into her home, assaulting her and
another victim in the residence.
Officers
noticed a glass on the front porch was
broken out as well as a glass in the
kitchen.
Huffman
said her ex-boyfriend, Day, came to the
residence to get his wallet. When she
answered the door, the suspects burst
into the residence. At one point, a
gallon jug of antifreeze was thrown
through the front porch window.
While at
the residence, Johnson reportedly fired
at least one shot towards the residence.
Officers said Johnson denied firing the
weapon, saying it jammed.
More
charges are expected in the case that
remains under investigation.
