KINGS MOUNTAIN - David P. Smith, Sr., age 88, resident of 703 Bethlehem Church Road, Kings Mountain, NC, died Friday, July 3, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Hospital, Shelby, NC.
Born in Lincoln County, NC, son of the late William Grover and Eldee Lovelace Smith, widower of the late Lillian Scism Smith ,wife of 57 years, and was also preceded in death by grandson Baker Falls, brothers, LB. Alexander, Johnny Alexander, Harold Alexander and sister Addie Bell White.

A member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, served as a Deacon, a founding member of the Bethlehem Fire Department and a former member of the Progressive Club. Served in the US Army during World Ward II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a farmer and former employee of Ford Tractor Company.

Grandchildren: Paul Smith and wife Renee Scott Rayfield, Daphine Albritton, Leslie Rayfield Denise Cox and husband Jim William Ledbetter and wife Christine Hollie Arnold and husband, Scott Crystal Haislip and husband Brian Justin Bennett

FUNERAL SERVICE: Bethlehem Baptist Church , Sunday July 5, 2009 at 4:00 P.M. Rev. Steve Taylor, officiating.
