LAWNDALE - David Lee Saine, 92, of 620 Stroupe Road, Lawndale, died July 14, 2009 at home.

Born March 20, 1917 in Lincoln County he was the son of the late David Pinkney Saine and Emma Elizabeth Gilbert Saine. Mr. Saine was retired from Drexel Heritage as a upholster. David was also a lifelong farmer who enjoyed working with cattle. David was a member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church where he served in many church offices. David loved music and was a lifetime member of Bess Chapel Choir. He joined the US Army in November 18, 1941, during that time he was in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Saine received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal with one Bronze Star.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Gerald David Saine; a brother, Carl Saine, Sr. and a sister, Mae Saine Black.

Mr. Saine is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Lee Tillman Saine, two daughters, Wanda Saine Richard & husband, Roger of Ellenboro and Cheryl Saine Pullen & husband, J.R. of North Brook, a son, Wayne Saine and wife, Wanda of North Brook, four grandchildren, Brock Billy Richardson, Toby Brandon Saine, Kelli Lauren Saine and Wesley Saine Richard; and four great grandchildren, Savannah & Farrah Richardson and Hunter & Kiley Saine.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.

Funeral Services, 11:00 AM, Thursday, Bess Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy T. Byers and Rev. Tripp Spangler officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
