DAR Essay Winners Announced

The Jacob Forney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented the organization's essay contest winners during their monthly meeting Saturday.

They were 5th grade winner Victoria Barger, daughter of Daniel and Tracy Barger, who attends Norris Childers Elementary; 6th grade winner Andrew Avery, son of Greg and Bethany Avery, from Lincolnton Middle School; 7th grade winner Andrew Cromer, son of John and Cathy Cromer, from Lincolnton Middle School; and 8th grade winner Jacqueline Gonzales, daughter of Vanessa Castillo and Luis Gonzales, from Lincolnton Middle School.

The students wrote their essays on different viewpoints of the Transcontinental Railroad. Their winning entries have been sent to the district competition.
