SHOW THEM THE MONEY
Sub contractors cause disturbance demanding money

By Jon Mayhew

Call it a sign of the economic times, people protesting in order to get paid for work they do.

Lincolnton police responded to a disturbance call Friday around 1:30pm, where a group of contractors were protesting not being paid for work completed at an apartment complex on Linden Street.

Lieutenant Randy Willis said the group of contractors was outside 512 Linden Street, protesting not being paid by a contractor who performed work on apartments under the control of the Lincolnton Housing Authority.

One of the sub contractors was demanding payment, according to the report, despite being told payment for services rendered would be coming on Friday, March 20.

“Several of the people went door to door, asking residents if they work they did was satisfactory,” said Lt. Willis.

Willis asked the group leave the area, that the issue is a civil matter.

The police report didn’t indicate how much money was in question.
