"GIFTS FOR CHILDREN" CONCERT SET FOR FRIDAY

By Jon Mayhew

LINCOLNTON -- The second annual "Gifts for Children" concert will be 7 p.m. Friday at Highland Drive Freewill Baptist Church on Highland Drive in Lincolnton.

Proceeds from the concert benefit needy children in Lincoln County, with the money being used to help provide gifts and clothing. The first concert in 2007 raised $1,200 for families with children who received the gifts.

The concert was a vision of Lincoln County Sheriff Tim Daugherty to help fill a need in Lincoln County.

This year you will hear a joint choir comprised of Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Lincolnton Police officers and employees, and the Highland Drive Church choir.

The singing group “Paris”, which includes three sheriff’s officers, will also perform at the concert. Church pastor and Sheriff’s Office Chaplain Brian Williams with host the concert.

For more information on the concert, call the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office at (704) 732-9050.
