CAUGHT
IN THE ACT
NEWTON -- On Tuesday morning around 03:30 AM,
law enforcement officers observed a burglary at Mikes Wholesle
Cars at 705 Laffon Road.
A male supect was seen entering the cars parked on the lot with a
female suspect standing by. The male suspect then began starting
the cars. When officers approached the male suspect, he advised
that he was atempting to steal gas and had to start the vehicle
before the gas tank would unlock.
One of the vehicles which he tried to start was a 2003 Jeep
Wrangler and was damaed in the amount of $1,000 when he tried to
"hot wire" it.
During the subsequent investigation, it was determined that the
1998 Chevrolet Astro van, gray in color, that was being used by
the suspects had been stolen out of Burke county.
When searched at the scene, the male suspect had in his posession
a small syringe with needle, which he said was used to introduce
Heroin into the body.
The male suspect gave four different identities to law
enforcement before his true identity was discovered through the
magistrate.
Jeffery Print McGalliard, age 27, was charged with one count
Felony Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle, one count Gelony
Attempted larceny, one count Felony Posession of a Stolen Motor
Vehicle, and one COunt Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property,
and one count Misdemeanor Possesion of Drug Paraphernalia. HIis
bond is $25,000 Secured with a court date of June 13, 2008
Janine Sophia Cooper, age 25, was also charged with one count of
Felony Attempted Larceny. Her bond is $4,000 with a court date of
June 13, 2008.
