Lincolnton Police detectives are asking the public’s help in
identifying two suspects in a stolen car case from South Flint
Street just before midnight Tuesday.

Officer Mike Reep responded to a residence in the 400 block of
South Flint Street, where the victim told him she had just
returned home from work at the time of the incident.

“She said she left the vehicle running while she went inside and
changed clothes,” said Reep.

A family member noticed the vehicle – a 1999 Mitsubishi – was
gone.

The car is described as having a pinstripe on one side.

The victim told Officer Reep the keys to her restaurant were on
the keychain in the ignition.

While there wasn’t anybody noticed in the area at the time,
Lincolnton Police detective Chuck McGinley released a photo to
The Carolina Scoop of a male and female.

The picture came from the Walmart in Hickory, where the couple
reportedly ran up charges on the victim’s debit card, which was
in the car at the time it was taken.

Officer Reep contacted Hickory Police Wednesday morning to
see if they spotted the vehicle in the parking lot. Hickory PD
notified Lincolnton the vehicle wasn’t in the parking lot.

The vehicle hasn’t been recovered as of late Thursday night.

Authorities also said they don’t recommend people leaving their
vehicles running that are unattended.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lincolnton Police at
704-736-8900 or Crimestoppers of Lincolnton/Lincoln County at
704-736-8909. Crimestoppers may pay a reward of up to $1,000
on any anonymous tip that leads to an arrest in any crime.
