Did the driver of a Kia Sportage take a wrong turn?

By Jon Mayhew (PUMPKIN CENTER) – It was a bad Friday the 13th for the driver of a Kia Sportage, as it ends up in a pond on Ivey Church Road near East Highway 150.

Around 12:30am, firefighters from Pumpkin Center were assisted by firefighters from Denver; East Lincoln; and Boger City in searching In and around the vehicle for possible victims.

Members of the North Carolina Highway Patrol found the driver near the scene. He told them he was the only one in the vehicle. Trooper J.M. Futrell is investigating the incident.

One firefighter was treated for hypothermia due to the cold temperature of the water. Besides the four fire departments, Lincoln Rescue and Lincoln EMS responded to the scene to aid firefighters.
