An officer on
routine patrol Saturday morning stops
three people and discovers two of them
have weapons and a stolen radio.
According to officer Mark Sain, the
incident started unfolding around 3am on
Salem Church Road near Dale Avenue.
I was on routine patrol when I saw
the three walking down the road,
said Sain.
While talking with the suspects, Sain
noticed 19-year-old Brad Shaw was armed
with a hatchet and holding something
under his sweatshirt.
It turned out to be a radio that
Shaw claimed came from behind his
fathers residence, said Sain.
We went to the fathers house
as part of the investigation.
The father, identified in Sains
report as Jeffrey Black said his
19-year-old hadnt lived at his
residence in two months. Police checked
the building where Shaw said he got the
radio but nothing was missing.
Black had also changed the combination
lock on his building after his son left.
After discovering the combination lock
had been changed, Shaw admitted the radio
came from a vehicle broken into on Woolie
Road.
Sheriffs deputies charged Shaw and
his brother, Logan, with breaking into
the vehicle. Officer Sain charged Brad
Shaw with carrying a concealed weapon and
possession of stolen property. Bond was
set at $11,500 secured.
Logan Shaw, meantime, was charged with
carrying a concealed weapon and taken to
jail under a $10,500 secured bond.
