WEST LINCOLN
Lincoln County Sheriffs
detective Don Mauldin arrested two
teens in connection with a March 10
break-in and larceny from
Halfway Supply, 889 North Highway 18,
around 12:10am.
Mauldin said the suspects Casey
Fredell, 18, of Casar and
Brandon Teague, 16, of Vale may
have been casing out the
store the day before the break-ins.
The break-in was discovered when
employees reported for work
according to Mauldin.
They reported for work around
4:30am, said Mauldin. The
suspects cut through a fence and gained
entry through a garage
door located at the back of the building.
Burglar alarms didnt stop the duo
because once they gained
entry to the building, the suspects cut
the main breakers,
shutting down the alarm system.
After taking money from the cash
registers, the pair pried a safe
out of the floor containing thousands of
dollars of cash and a
handgun. The safe, removed from the
building with a pair of
hand trucks, was placed in a nearby
vehicle.
They also dropped a large amount of
lottery tickets as they were
leaving the store, said Mauldin.
Both teens are charged with breaking and
entering a building;
safecracking; preparing to commit
burglary and housebreaking;
larceny and possession of stolen
property.
They were released from the Harven A.
Crouse Detention Center
under a $20,000 secured bond each. The
safe and money taken
in the break-in have not been recovered.
Investigation into the
break-in is continuing.
