MAN
ARRESTED AFTER INCIDENT WITH LAW
ENFORCEMENT

LINCOLNTON
-- A Car Wash Drive man is
arrested by Lincolnton Police on assault
and other charges.
While
authorities haven't released the incident
report in the case, The Carolina Scoop
learned Jerry Cicero Branch, 23, 107
Carwash Drive, had to be tasered in order
to comply with officer's commands at the
scene.
Branch was
charged with assault on a female;
interfering with 911 communications;
disorderly conduct; and resisting a
public officer, all misdemeanors.
He was taken
to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center
without bond.
Per
Lincolnton Police Department procedures,
after an officer deploys his taser,
Lincoln EMS is called to check out the
suspect to ensure he is OK. None of the
responding officers were injured while
responding to the incident.
Sgt. J.
Wilson, Canine Officer D. Renn, Officer
B. Heavner and Officer R. Taylor
responded to the residence around 2:35am
Tuesday.
Several
hours later, Lincolnton Police Officer
Tony Potts responded to the same
residence in reference to subjects
trespassing, causing a disturbance.
According to
Officer Potts, family members of Branch
were causing a disturbance at the
residence.
OTHER
ARRESTS
--Sgt.
Willie Vaughn arrested Jamie Phelan, 410
North Grove Street, on a misdemeanor
charge of communicating threats. Phelan
was given a written promise to appear in
court.
--Wesley
McMurray, 20, 183 A Street, Lincolnton,
was served an order for arrest by Sgt.
Willie Vaughn on charges of failing to
appear in court. McMurray signed a
written promise to appear in court.
--James Lee
Rankin Jr. was arrested by Maiden Police
at Food Lion in Maiden for attempting to
obtain property by false pretense and
forgery, both felonies. Sgt. Willie
Vaughn served the warrants to Rankin and
he was taken to the Harven A. Crouse
Detention Center under a $5,000 secured
bond.
--Matthew
Broome, 23, Third Street, Lincolnton, was
arrested via a warrant by Sgt. Willie
Vaughn on a charge of making a harrassing
phone call. Broome signed a written
promise to appear in court on July 28.
--Billy
Allen Clippard Jr., 37, Laboratory Road,
Lincolnton, was arrested and charged by
Officer Brent Heavner with damage to real
property and damage to personal property
after breaking a window at the Days Inn
motel. The suspect was taken to the
Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a
$500 secured bond.
