LINCOLNTON -- As police continue investigating an incident involving a Lincolnton residence where one pipe bomb was found, The Carolina Scoop has learned additional charges have been filed against both of the suspects in the case.

David Lecuyer and Jeff Bullard were arrested on Lincoln Street after they tried to escape their Catawba Street residence Monday around 5pm. Both were charged with felony weapons of mass destruction and jailed under a $30,000 bond.

Both have now been charged with possessing drugs and maintaining a dwelling for the sale and delivery of drugs, specifically marijauna. Their bonds have also been raised to $100,000 each.

Lincolnton police Sgt. Willie Vaughn served the additional warrants on the suspects at the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center. Vaughn said when authorities called Lecuyer, he thought he was going home when he saw Vaughn.

"He told me he was about to get released from jail," said Vaughn, adding the suspects "don't understand what the big deal is about."

The Carolina Scoop has also learned that the pair left Bullard's residence after police arrived and tried to escape. They were picked up by police at Lecuyer's residence on Lincoln Street.

Authorities received an anonymous tip that a pipe bomb was in Jeff Bullard's residence.

Police received an anonymous tip Monday that the pair were making a pipe bomb inside their residence. Authorities blocked off Catawba and Magnolia Streets as the police department's SET (Special Enforcement Team) Team made entry into the residence and discovered the pipe bomb.

The Gastonia Police Department's bomb squad came to remove the explosive device as neighbors of the duo watched on in shock.

One neighbor said she's witnessed bizzare activity at the residence before.

"They're usually running around there naked," said one neighbor. "Otherwise, our neighborhood is pretty quiet."

The police investigation is looking into why the pair were making the pipe bomb in the first place.
