WEST
LINCOLN -- Authorities are
hoping "money is the motivator"
in four cases of homemade bombs being
detonated in western Lincoln County.
Lincoln
County Sheriff's detectives are
investigating four cases where someone
either threw or placed "Drano
Bombs" on porches of two homes on
Highway 182 where in three of the four
cases, residents were inside sleeping.
The
incidents happened between Oct. 18 and
Nov. 1 at addresses 2400 and 2420 Highway
182.
Most of
the incidents occurred during the early
morning hours while the residents were
sleeping. One was set off at 9:27 pm
while the homeowner was watching
television.
According
to Det. Lt. Hal Kluttz, the vandals used
1-liter or 2-liter soft drink bottles
that break into thousands of pieces when
the explosion occurrs.
"There
aren't any flames or dangerous heat
produced by the explosion, but a victim
could inhale the gas fumes created by the
reaction of the liquid nad metal,"
said Kluttz. "It could cause serious
burns if it gets on your skin. We are
also concerned that someone could come to
the door or walk out onto the porch when
the explosion occurs and be seriously
injured."
The
explosions left liquid, aluminum foil and
plastic on the porches but did not cause
any structural damage.
Authorities
plan on distributing Crimestoppers'
flyers in several locations in West
Lincoln, seeking information on the
suspect or suspects. Anyone with
information about the crimes should
contact Crimestoppers at (704) 736-8909.
Callers remain anonymous and if the tip
leads to an arrest in the case, a reward
of up to $1,000 may be paid.
