TOWERY IN TROUBLE
AGAIN.....

LINCOLNTON
-- Some people never learn. And
for a Lincolnton woman, the lesson may be
a hard one to take.
Bobbi Jo
Towery, 32, 312 High Street, was driving
down Gaston Street Saturday afternoon
around 1pm when she noticed officer Billy
Burgin.
As she
passed Burgin, she tried to conceal her
identity. Burgin, however, said he
realized it was her.
Burgin
started following Towery and tried to
initiate a traffic stop.
Towery,
however, had other plans.
"She
started speeding up," said Burgin,
adding he estimated her speed at about 70
miles-per-hour.
Towery
finally stopped at the intersection of
Gaston and Main Streets and was taken
into custody on a number of charges.
It
wasn't Towery's first encounter with
Burgin.
Late
last year, Towery was arrested on traffic
charges and taken to the magistrate's
office. While she was there, she started
chewing on something.
Officers
asked her several times what she was
chewing on. After finally admitting she
was chewing on xanex, Burgin searched
Towery and found a xanex baggie in her
buttocks.
Towery
now faces charges of driving while
impaired; driving while license revoked;
careless and reckless driving; driving
left of center; transporting and
consuming; and fleeing/eluding arrest.
Bonds on
all six charges total $13,000. Towery's
next court date is set for February.
Burgin
also seized Towery's vehicle, a 2004
Chevy Cavalier.
