Vale- Mrs.
Barbara B. Beam, age 79 of 727
Hwy. 274 Vale, died on Wednesday,
August 25, 2010.
Her funeral service will be 2:00
p. m. on Saturday, August 28,
2010 at Cedar Grove with Pastor
Dale Pederson officiating. Burial
will follow in the church
cemetery. The body will lie in
state for one hour prior to the
service. The family will receive
friends following the service at
the church.
Mrs. Beam was born March 30, 1931
in Lincoln County to the late
John M. Beam, Sr. and Camilla
Dellinger Beam. She is survived
by her husband of 61 years, Elwyn
L. Beam of the home, and a
daughter, Loretta Beam of Vale;
two brothers, Carl A. Beam and
wife Glennie of Vale, and John M.
Beam, Jr. and wife Joyce of
Lincolnton; as well as a number
of nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by her son,
Eddy Elwyn Beam, and a brother,
George W. Beam.
Mrs. Beam was the bookkeeper and
co-owner of Beam Lumber Company.
She served as church organist at
Cedar Grove Lutheran Church for
over 60 years, where she was a
lifelong member. She was active
in the Women of the ELCA
organization, Sunday School, and
many other activities of the
church.
Barbara was active in the Lincoln
County Democratic party and
womens group. She enjoyed
her walking companions, her
flowers, her fish ponds, and her
best dog-friend,
Inky. She loved her
family and friends, her church
and choir family, and the
symbolism of hope found in
butterflies.
