COACH AMONG THOSE CITED IN GAME FIGHT

By Jon Mayhew – DENVER –
People attending the Wednesday night East Lincoln/North Lincoln girls’ tournament game came to watch basketball but instead was treated to a fight.

When the dust cleared, six people – including the coach, the coach’s family member and the parents involved – were cited by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Public information officer Larry Seagle said East Lincoln’s school resource officer, deputy Robert Milton, said the fight started around 7:30pm Wednesday.

“A family member of the coach confronted a parent over comments that were made,” said Seagle. “At that point, coach Deidrea LeGrand, walked over to see what was going on and that’s when the fight erupted.”

The parents, Douglas and Jennifer Wakefield, East Lincoln coach LeGrand, Dwayne LeGrand, and Crystal Mack were charged with simple affray.

One person, Yaschica Jackson of Hines Circle, Stanley was charged with assault. All were escorted from the school facility.

Deputy Milton was working off duty security at the game and had to call in extra help from patrol deputies when the incident got out of hand. No one was seriously injured during the fight.
