POLICE INVESTIGATING ASSAULT AT SCHOOL

Authorities say a student was assaulted by another student at a
Lincoln County School, with the events being witnessed by a
teacher.

A 9th grader at Asbury School, 221 Salem Church Road, told
police officer David Mocanu that the 15-year-old suspect wanted
to cheat off of her paper.

“The victim said she refused to let him do that,” said Mocanu.

Three times in one day, the suspect struck and grabbed the
victim in the arm and the underclothing. At one point, the victim
tried to fight back by yelling at the suspect and slapping him in
the face.

The suspect even punched the victim in the back. According to
Mocanu’s report, the punch “knocked the air out of her.”

The victim said all of the incidents were witnessed by the same
teacher. The Carolina Scoop chose not to reveal identities in the
incident due to the ages of the victim and suspect.

The case remains under investigation.
