IRON
STATION Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies
and the State Highway Patrol arrested a Sherrills
Ford man following a high speed chase around 4:45
a.m. Thursday.
Deputies say Jeffrey Jon Loomis, 47, of Burton
Street, Sherrills Ford, met them on a motorcycle
at a high rate of speed on Highway 150 East near
the intersection of McCorkle Road.
The Carolina Scoop first brought news of the
chase that had authorities going after Loomis
throughout part of east Lincoln.
Loomis, operating the motorcycle in a careless
and reckless manner, traveled west on Highway 150
and turned back east on Highway 27. He traveled
onto Amity Church Road and several other
secondary roads before crashing in field near
Micah Lane on Highway 73.
Once crashing, he reportedly led authorities on a
brief foot chase before being apprehended.
Loomis was transported to CMC-Lincoln where he
was treated for minor back pain and released to
officers.
He is charged with speeding to elude arrest,
careless and reckless driving and speeding
exceeding the posted limit.
He was placed under an $8,500 secured bond and
had a first appearance by video arraignment in
Lincoln County District Court on Thursday.
Loomis had no outstanding warrants against him
and, if he had been stopped, would have only been
cited for speeding.
Responding along with Lincoln County Sheriff's
deputies and the State Highway Patrol were
Pumpkin Center Fire Department and Lincoln County
EMS.
