APPLE
FESTIVAL HAS PLENTY
OF AGRICULTURE
There will be plenty to see
at the Lincoln County Festival coming up this
Saturday, September 20. The event will be held
from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in downtown
Lincolnton.
Naturally, the apple crop is the reason for the
celebration. While the number of growers has
declined over the years, there will be lots of
apples for sale. One grower will be located on
East Main Street while all the rest are west of
the courthouse.

Theres a lot more agriculture at the
festival than just apples.
There will be a great farmers market area in
front of the county library three blocks west of
the courthouse. Just beyond the farmers market
will be Thurman Anthonys antique corn
grinder and the Big Cart from the
N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer
Services. The Big Cart is a huge grocery cart
with a V-8 engine. Kids of all ages will not want
to miss this one. Bring your camera for pictures.
Two more agricultural special events are in the
kids area just off West Main Street.
These are the 4-H horse rides and the FFA cow
milking. Both of these are extremely popular.
The food is also a big part of the festival. You
can buy apple pies, apple butter, apple cider,
apple ice cream, and candied apples. Then
theres a wide selection of offerings for
lunch like hamburgers, hot dogs, fish, and much
more. You get great tasting food while supporting
local Lincoln County non-profits. Perhaps
thats really the best thing about the
festival. Its a community turning out to
support their friends and neighbors.
Dont forget to check out the downtown
businesses while youre at the festival.
There are usually new stores to see each year and
some businesses will no doubt be offering
bargains that day.
I hope you have a great time at this years
