  APARTMENT DAMAGED,
BURNED UNDER INVESTIGATION

By Jon Mayhew (LINCOLNTON) -- Lincolnton Police detectives are investigating damage to an apartment at Colonial Village Drive, where apartment managers found water gushing out the front door and part of the apartment burned.

The incident unfolded just after 7am Monday according to officer Ashley Boyles' report.

A maintenance worker was going to perform work on the apartment when he noticed water gushing out the front door. The apartment management company was notified and made entry into the residence.

Besides the carpets being saturated with water, a stove and some kitchen cabinets were burned according to the report.

Detectives were called to the scene and found some charred paperwork in the damage.

Investigators are waiting to talk to the resident sometime Tuesday. The investigation into what caused the damage is continuing.
