Update on Weekend Shooting

By Jon Mayhew (East Lincoln) -- The Carolina Scoop learned early Monday a 20-year-old shot in the stomach area early Sunday morning has been treated and released from the hospital.

The initial call came in around 2:45am Sunday that Almico Anderson, 20, McIntosh Road, had been shot at a residence on Cabin Lane off Old Plank Road. As authorities were responding to the scene, Anderson's brother, Rico, drove Almico Anderson to Carolinas Medical Center Lincoln.

Anderson was later taken by Lincoln EMS to Carolinas Medical Center Charlotte. A hospital spokesperson said Anderson was treated and released.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

LCSO detective Robin Powell is also investigating a shooting that happened over the weekend on Startown Road near Clark's Creek Road.

Sources tell The Carolina Scoop a 44-year-old man may have shot himself. He died at the scene. The victim's name has not been released because the investigation into the incident continues.
