BUSINESSES CITED FOR
SELLING ALCOHOL TO MINORS
By Jon Mayhew

DENVER
A recent undercover operation by
the Lincoln County Sheriffs Office resulted
in eight businesses being cited for selling
alcohol to someone underage. Investigators used a
20-year-old male to go into the businesses, all
located on the Highway 16 corridor.
Eight of the businesses sold the undercover male
a large bottle of beer. In each case, the buyer
used a $20 bill and received the proper change.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriffs
Office, the following businesses were cited for
selling alcohol to a person under 21 years of
age:
Genes Qwik Stop; Old Plank Grocery; Texaco;
Harris-Teeter; two Food Lion stores; Petro
Express; and Shop and Save.
Shooters Bar and Brill and the Texaco at Forney
Hill Road/Highway 16 asked for an identification
card and refused to sell alcohol because the
person was underage. Complaints on underage
alcohol sales prompted authorities to take
action.
