Lincoln County Schools Release
ABC Results
Results Mark a Successful Year
Lincoln
County Schools released the
2007-2008 North Carolina ABC
results today. Dr. David Martin,
Superintendent of Lincoln County
Schools states, The ABC
results indicate that Lincoln
County Schools are on a path of
continuous improvement. The
results are indicative of the
commitment by students, teachers,
and parents to do whatever it
takes to assist students to grow
academically. I am proud of our
results; however, we have more
work to do.
The North Carolina ABC plan was
developed by the North Carolina
Board of Education to allow
public schools to focus more on
basic skills, higher
accountability and more local
control over educational
decisions. ABC scores are based
on individual schools. The North
Carolina ABC accountability model
measures school achievement in
three ways to determine
schools success over time:
1. Percent of students test
scores at or above the proficient
level (Performance Composite)
2. Academic Growth (High or
Expected)
3. Adequate Yearly Progress
To measure growth, a student is
expected to perform as well, or
better, on the end-of-grade (EOG)
and end-of-course (EOC)
assessment for the current year
compared to previous year data.
ABC growth results are based only
on the Math component in
2007-2008. Reading results will
be released in November. At that
time, the schools
Performance Composite and
complete AYP results will be
available.
The status for Lincoln County
School of Technology will show as
NS No Status. Personnel at
this school receive recognition
based on their feeder schools.
However, they do not receive a
status as a stand alone school.
