U.S. Marshals Task Force Tracks Down Homicide Suspect in Georgia

July 15, 2008

Youngstown, OH – In the early afternoon of July 14, 2008, the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Aaron Sherrod in the Atlanta suburb of Rex, Ga., where he was hiding from Ohio law enforcement. Sherrod was wanted by the Youngstown Police Department for his involvement in the November 18, 2007, shooting death of James Dow on Youngstown’s north side.

Investigators from the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force had been seeking Sherrod and had recently developed information that he was in the Atlanta, Ga. area. This information was passed to the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Atlanta, who then immediately acted on the information and located and apprehended the suspect.

Assistant Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Drew Deserto states, “This is one of the great benefits of having the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. No matter where a fugitive may try to run or hide, we will work together to find them and bring them back to justice.”

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of a known fugitive is encouraged to contact the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at: 1-866-4-WANTED. Callers may remain anonymous and reward money is available.
