Thousands gathered in and around Memorial Stadium in Lincolnton Saturday night to celebrate the Fourth of July.
More fireworks pictures are coming on Monday, as well as parade pictures.

Firefighters from Lincolnton and Boger City Fire Departments responded to reports of a smell of smoke at Hollywood Video on Stanford Drive late Friday afternoon.

The business remained open as no flames or smoke were visible.

Firefighters determined everything was okay and were able to clear the scene shortly after arrival.

PEDESTRIAN STRUCK OVERNIGHT IN LINCOLNTON

July 3, 2009

LINCOLNTON -- An unidentified pedestrian was struck in East Lincolnton around 12:15am Friday.

Lincoln EMS, Lincoln Rescue, Lincolnton Firefighters and Lincolnton Police responded to 114 Doris Court, where a 26-year-old male was struck by a black car.

Doris Court is off Julia Drive, which is off Lithia Inn Road.

Radio traffic indicated the man may have suffered a leg injury and that the victim may have called 911 himself.

The only description of the vehicle is a black car. It was last seen traveling down Julia Drive.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Lincolnton Police Department at (704) 736-8900.

DETECTIVES NEED PUBLIC’S HELP
REGARDING ATV THEFTS



July 3, 2009

LINCOLNTON – Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Sally Dellinger is seeking the public’s assistance regarding two All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) thefts from an East Highway 150 residence in Lincolnton.

According to Detective Dellinger, the incident happened June 25.

“A vehicle was broken into in the driveway and a garage door opener was taken as well,” said Detective Dellinger.

One ATV is described as a green 2006 Honda 500 Rubicon with a gray aluminum rack on the front and a camouflage gear bag on the back.

The other ATV is a green 2003 Honda 500 Rubicon with a camouflage gear bag on the fender. There is an upside down “T” arm on the back.

It’s do or die for Area IV American Legion baseball teams as the Area IV tournament got underway this week. Pineville took the top seed from the Eastern Division posting a 13-5 division record. They were followed by Union County at 12-6. Cherryville Post 100 and Shelby Post 82 tied for the top honors in the Western Division, each posting 13-3 division records. AUTHORITIES RESPOND TO TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

July 2, 2009

PUMPKIN CENTER--
East Lincoln authorities including Pumpkin Center Fire Department, Lincoln Rescue and Lincoln EMS have responded to the intersection of Furnace Road and Stagecoach Road to reports of a serious traffic accident.

According to radio traffic, one victim is pinned in the wreckage at the accident that happened just before 3pm.

Radio traffic also indicated the accident may have been a head-on colission.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
