LINCOLN
COUNTY -- Steadily falling rains
throughout Thursday are worrying
emergency service workers throughout the
county.
Many
roadways including South Highway 16 in
Denver; East Main Street in Lincolnton
and Highway 27 West in Vale have some
standing water on the roads.
City and
county law enforcement are encouraging
all motirists to slow down and allow for
extra travel time.
The rain
is expected to taper off sometime during
the night.

LINCOLNTON
-- Authorities are asking for
the public's assistance in finding
Rasheen Elmore, the suspect in a Friday
night purse snatching and early Saturday
morning chase.
Detective
Chuck McGinley said Elmore snatched a
purse from the arm of a woman at the
Subway on North Generals Boulevard around
10:30 p.m. Friday, then got into a
vehicle driven by Jeremy Richard of
Maiden.

3:30 a.m. Saturday, Richard and Elmore
led police on a chase
LINCOLNTON
-- A 69-year-old woman told
police she received a telephone call
Tuesday that was simply too good to be
true. Now, investigators are looking into
the call and want to warn residents of a
scam.
According
to Sgt. Matt Painter's incident report at
Lincolnton Police, the woman received the
call around 2:30 p.m.
The
victim said she was called three times
since Saturday

DENVER -- For the fourth
time in 10 days, an East Lincoln
convenience store has been broken into
after the same suspect rammed the front
doors and stole items.
Around
10:24 pm, Lincoln County Sheriff's
deputies were called to Jones Exxon, 504
South Highway 16. They discovered the
business broken into after the front
doors were smashed in. Authorities
believe it was the same suspect and
suspect vehicle in the past three
break-ins.

-- A suspect has been
apprehended in a break-in at the Westport
Body Shop on Highway 16 in Denver.
According
to radio traffic, the suspect was
apprehended running out of a wooded area
near the body shop just before 10 p.m.
Tuesday. A Lincoln County Sheriff's
Deputy told the Lincoln County
Communications Center the suspect was in
custody, that authorities are waiting for
the body shop owner to meet with them
regarding suspect identification.

MAIDEN
-- A police chase by a Lincoln County
Sheriff's deputy Friday afternoon in
Catawba County led to the arrest of a
Lincolnton man on traffic and sex
charges.
Traffic
safety officer Sgt. L.W. Ingle was
traveling East Maiden Road around 1:15pm
when a speeding SUV passed him in the
opposite direction. Ingle, a member of
the Catawba-Lincoln County Joint Task
Force, said the SUV was speeding more
than 15 miles-per-hour over the speed
limit.
Ingle
began chasing the vehicle on East Maiden
Road, Buffalo Shoals Road, South
Olivers Crossroads and Dolph Monroe
Road before getting the SUV stopped in a
private driveway. During the chase, the
vehicle ran through a tree trimming
operation that had one lane blocked for
work in progress.
As Ingle
approached the vehicle on Dolph Monroe
Road, the officer noticed the
drivers side door partially open
before the car came to a stop. Ingle
pulled the right front of the patrol car

ROBBERY,
CHASE CONNECTED

LINCOLNTON
-- The Carolina Scoop has
learned a purse snatching late Friday
night and a high-speed chase Saturday
morning are connected.
Friday
night, a woman was leaving the Subway
restaurant near Wal-Mart on North
Generals Boulevard when a black male
grabbed her pocketbook by force. A
witness chased the Honda the suspect got
into, but lost the vehicle on Wilma
Sigmon Road.
Around
3:30 a.m. Saturday, authorities had
set-up a meeting with the suspect after
he called the victim's family and
demanded $1,000 according to a Lincolnton
Police Department incident report. The
suspect also threatened to burn the
victim's house

-- The "Gifts for
Children" concert held Friday night
at Highland Drive Church in Lincolnton
raised more than $1,200, and now children
across Lincoln County will have a merrier
Christmas.

WRECK SNARLS TRAFFIC

LINCOLNTON
-- A five-car chain reaction
crash on North Aspen Street snarled
traffic for about an hour Monday
afternoon.
And
while the incident itself is far from
amusing, where the incident happened is
kind of ironic.
The
accident happened in front of the
driver's license office near Sigmon Road.
A
vehicle driven by Angela Morgan Watts of
Hickory caused the crash. Watts told
Lincolnton Police Sgt. Willie Vaughn she
slammed on brakes when she saw traffic
stopped ahead of her, but she was unable
to avoid the collision.

LINCOLNTON
-- Police responding to a call
at 181 A Street were originally called
out to a breaking, entering in progress.
And
while they heard sounds of people moving
furniture inside the residence, they soon
discovered it wasn't a breaking and
entering; instead, they discovered a
Lincolnton man violating an active
domestic violence protection order.
The
incident unfolded around 10 a.m. Sunday,
when police surrounded the home of Misty
Webb. According to officer Billy Burgin,
he knocked on the front door of the
residence.
Webb,
26, told Burgin tht nobody broke into the
residence. After further questioning,
Webb also told Burgin that Chad
Lattimore, 36, wasn't at the residence.
