White is as tough as they come. And while the
newest Lake Norman patrol officer stands more

White readily

White was one of many law enforcement officers

tax holiday. It's the seventh year in a row for
the holiday, where sales taxes are waived for a
two-day period. For 2008, the sales tax holiday

Last year, North Carolina Governor Mike Easley
signed a law that added school instructional
materials, such as reference books, maps, globes,
textbooks and workbooks with an individual price
tag of up to $300, to the list of items included
as exempt from the sales tax. Previously, the
price limit was $100.
Statement by
Mike Leavitt, Secretary of Health and Human
Services, on Legislation to Address Medicare
Solvency
The
law created a trigger that requires
action if the Medicare trustees have issued two
consecutive reports projecting the programs spending
from general revenue would exceed 45
percent. This year, in response to the
second consecutive Medicare Trustee report, the
President proposed legislation to lengthen the
life of the trust fund and improve Medicare and
that legislation was introduced by members in
both houses. Under the law, Congress is
required to act on the Presidents proposal
or an alternative by July 30.
The
Congressional Budget Office may have determined
that budget gimmicks contained in Medicare
legislation passed last week meet the technical
requirements of the trigger law. But
parliamentary sleight of hand will do nothing to
resolve the enormous financial challenges
presented by Medicare in the near future.
Congress
has failed to act to address the underlying
fiscal crisis, and the Democrat House leadership
is now actively seeking to silence the alarm
bells and prevent any action to address
Medicares underlying solvency
problems.
The Department of Justice

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
July 25, 2008
"Since 1990, the

its multifaceted and innovative approach to

Under the agreement, Raynor School will
make reasonable accommodations to permit
