Vicki Rauch responds
to search warrant service

DENVER -- While authorities said
Tuesday that Vicki Rauch was being
"somewhat" cooperative regarding the
seizure of more than 100 animals from her Petite
Lane residence, Rauch is speaking out about what
she calls harrassment from her neighbors. The
seizure, dubbed "Operation Noah's Ark"
because of the rain moving through the area,
brought together law enforcement, emergency
service workers and volunteers to help care for
the most innocent of victims, the animals.

annual Lincolnton/Lincoln County Chamber of
Commerce Business Expo. The event gets underway
with a "Get Up and Network" event at 8
a.m. at the James W. Warren Citizen's Center in
downtown Lincolnton.
According to Lisa Wallace with the Chamber, 45
vendors are taking part in the event this year
that's themed "Grab the Gold," to
coincide with the Olympics.

INVESTIGATING VEHICLE BREAK-IN

LINCOLN COUNTY Authorities with
the Lincoln County Sheriffs Department are
investigating an overnight vehicle break-in that
happened in the parking lot of Cataler North
America in the Lincoln County Industrial Park.
What is concerning detectives about this
particular break-in is what was taken from the
vehicle; an AR-15 assault rifle with ammunition.

LINCOLN COUNTY -- A Duke Energy utility
truck and Chevy Cavalier were involved in a head
on collision Sunday night in the western part of
Lincoln County. The accident happened on Magnolia
Grove Road, off Philadelphia Church Road, around
8:45 p.m.
Initial radio traffic indicated one vehicle had
run on top of the other, pinning one person
inside and leaving that person unconcious. Dustin

Sexually Assaulted
Children: National Estimates and Characteristics
a bulletin by The National Incidence Studies of
Missing, Abducted, Runaway, and Thrownaway
Children (NISMART) has been released.
Key Findings
In 1999, an estimated
285,400 children were victims
of a sexual assault1 and 35,000 were
victims of some
other type of sex offense.
An estimated 44
percent of the child victims of sexual
assault and other sex offenses
experienced an act of sexual penetration.
Sexual assault
victims were disproportionately female
(89 percent) and ages 12 to 17 (81
percent).
Most (95 percent) of
the sexual assault victims were assaulted
by a male. Almost three-fourths (71
percent)
were assaulted by someone they were
acquainted with or knew by sight; 18
percent were assaulted by a complete
stranger, 10 percent by a family member.
Twenty-nine percent
of the sexual assault victims were
assaulted by youth age 17 or younger.
Police were contacted
in regard to only 30 percent of the
sexually assaulted children.

Around 8:45 pm
Sunday South Fork firefighters responded to
Magnolia Grove Rd. near Philadelphia Church Rd.
Authorities on the scene reported a pickup truck
has crashed on top of a Chevy Cavalier. One
person was believed to be unconscious and pinned
inside the wreckage.
Firefighters on the scene had originally called
for two Med Center air helicopters from Carolinas
Medical Center in Charlotte. However, as of
around 9:05pm the patients were reported to be
free from the vehicles and around 9:10pm the
helicopters were cancelled.
The accident is under investigation by trooper
Powell of the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

-- Authorities spent a large chunk of
their Saturday investigating the deaths of two
residents at a Gastonia home.
And the investigation may continue Monday.
Sunday, 1117 Jannee Court resembled a crime
scene, with yellow tape cordoning off the
residence and police cars around.

FROM MECKLENBURG TO LINCOLN

DENVER If you thought you saw a
house moving down the road in east Lincoln while
on the way to church, then youre not seeing
things. And the house moving this morning may
have affected your commute to church.
Around 7:15 a.m., Lincoln County Communications
notified emergency service workers and law
enforcement of the plans to move a 35-foot-wide
house from Highway 73 in Mecklenburg County to
Webbs Road in Lincoln County.

special day for WSOC-TVs School
Tools campaign, as letter carriers from
across Lincoln County were picking up school
supplies donated by their customers.
Postal customers left school supplies at their
mailboxes and were picked up by letter carriers
throughout the day. The supplies are going to be
distributed locally.

SQUARE?

LINCOLNTON
-- In the days after a deadly accident
at the intersection of East Court Square and East
Main Street, motorists are using extra caution
when pedestrians are in crosswalks in downtown
Lincolnton.
Monday morning, 78-year-old Virginia McAlister
was struck by a pickup driven by Timothy
Biggerstaff, 47, of Lawndale, as she crossed the
street. Biggerstaff cflipped McAlister. She was
taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital, where she died
around 9 a.m. A memorial service was held for
McAlister Wednesday at Lincoln Avenue Baptist
Church on South Grove Street.
