Skipper due in court Thursday


Pumpkin Center resident Charlie Skipper learned about a month ago three hogs seized from his farm in April were slaughtered...and the meat went to three Animal Services employees.

A Pumpkin Center man, whose animals were seized in April as part of Operation Blue Thunder, is set to be in court on Thursday.

At least 250 animals were seized from Charlie Skipper's farm in early April; Lincoln County officials claim Skipper's animals were "surrendered" through documents signed by Skipper himself.

Skipper, however, says he was forced to surrender his animals, thanks to seven Sheriff's deputies with their hands

Argument between mother, son causes residential damage

Officers were called to a residence in the 1200 block of Georgetown Road Monday afternoon after an argument between mother and son leads to the son causing major damage to a residence.

According to Lt. Randy Willis, the argument was over cutting the grass.

Officer Tony Potts responded just after 12:30pm and spoke with the mother. She told officers her 39-year-old son lives

Cruiser slightly damaged after investigation

A Lincolnton Police Department cruiser is slightly damaged after a larceny investigation on Saddletree Lane Monday afternoon.

Officer Tony Potts was returning a ring reported stolen from the residence earlier in the day. As he was backing down the driveway, his back bumper scraped a rock.

School Tools Donation Drop-Off

Lincoln County Parks and Recreation is partnering with Communities In Schools (CIS) of Lincoln County to help bring school supplies to those in need. Communities In Schools is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young people successfully learn, stay in school and prepare for life.
You can help by bringing donated school supplies from now until August 31st to any drop-off location, including the Lincoln County Parks and Recreation office, the James W. Warren Citizens Center and the CIS Office. For additional info, contact the Recreation Office at (704) 748-1518 or the CIS Office at (704) 736-0303.

 

CITY COUNCIL MEETING

The Lincolnton City Council will meet on Thursday, September 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Lincolnton City Hall, located at 114 W. Sycamore Street.

 

BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

The Lincoln County Board of Education will meet on Wednesday, September 8th at 6:30pm. The meeting will be held at the Lincoln County Schools Central Office which is located at 353 North Generals Blvd. (Next to Ryan's Steakhouse). This meeting is open to the public. Women's Softball Leaugue

Lincoln County Parks & Recreaction is accepting registration for a Women's Softball Leaugue for women 25 years and up. It will be held at East Lincoln Community Center in Denver and games will be played on Sundays beginning September 12th. For more info, call (704) 483-8980.

CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT

The Cherryville Fire Department will be hosting its 2nd Annual Cornhole Tournament on September 18th from 11am - 7pm, as an opener to the Cherryville Golf and Country Club (CGCC) party hosting The Beachnuts Band from 8pm - 12pm. Entering in the Cornhole tournament will give you a free armband to attend the party. Armbands can be purchased seperately at the CGCC for all spectators of the tournament.

 

SONG OF PRAISE

At 6pm on Saturday September 25th there will be a concert, called Song of Praise, featuring Firm Foundation with guests 3:16 and Heart to Heart. The concert will be held at the James Warren Citizen's Center and admission is FREE.

 

POTTERY FESTIVAL
