Man faces several charges after firing gun in air

Authorities responding to a domestic where an 18-year-old was choking a 13-year-old encounter the father of the 13-year-old, who fired a shot into the air as deputies arrived.


The Carolina Scoop learned authorities arrested 41-year-old Bobby Goble and charged him with going armed to the terror of the public.

Newly elected ward one Lincolnton City councilman Devin Rhyne was not sworn-in as planned Monday night in the Lincolnton City council chambers at city hall.

According to Lincolnton mayor John Gilleland, Rhyne did not yet possess a certificate of qualification, required to sit on the Council or take part in any kind of voting.

"I apologize," said Gilleland. "It was my mistake. I want to do things right and not swear him in until he has the certificate in hand."

Wayne's Feast comes
to an end

The recent closing of Captain Pete's restaurant on Highway 150 in Denver has ended a monthly gathering of seniors.

For more than 15 years, Denver residents Celia and Paul Deese have held Wayne's Feast. For the last several years, the feast has been held at the restaurant.

At lease two people were transported by Lincoln EMS to Carolinas Medical Center Lincoln with non-life threatening injuries after a two car wreck at the intersection of East Main Street and Huss Street Monday afternoon.

The accident involved a blue pickup truck and a Honda and blocked one eastbound and one westbound lane of East Main Street as well as the turn lane in both directions leading to Huss Street.

Co-ed Indoor Kickball League Registration & Captain's Meeting

Lincoln County Parks and Recreation has begun registration for a co-ed kickball league for adults 21 years of age and older at the East Lincoln Community Center in Denver. All completed registration forms and fees must be turned in at the Team Captain's meeting on March 31st at 6:30pm at ELCC. The league will begin on April 18th and run for 6 weeks. Teams require a minimum of 11 and maximum of 15 players per team and cost is $5 per person. Teams are required to purchase their own uniform shirt with numbers on the back. 4H Sewing Class

A Beginner’s Basic Class will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, April 6 and 7th from 9 am until 12 noon (participants attend both days).

An Intermediate Sewing Class will be held on Thursday and Friday mornings, April 8th and 9th, from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm (participants attend both days). The Intermediate class is for ages 9 to 18.


Registration is due by March 23 and requires a class fee of $10 and 4-H enrollment and medical release forms. Please know child’s waist and hip size for registration also. Participants are also responsible for purchasing their materials and patterns also.

The class will be held on April 6 and 7th from 1 pm until 4 pm (both days). The class is for youth ages 9 to 18 and adult volunteer helpers are needed.
